I met up with Rachel and Dan in now what feels like a lifetime ago, but it must have only been around 18 months ahead of their big day! I’d been lucky enough to photograph at the beautiful Chippenham Park the previous Summer and having seen me photograph one of their friends weddings, and then subsequently my shots from the previous wedding at Chippenham, Rachel and Dan were excited to meet up for a chat about capturing their day!
We were due to meet at Mollys, a yummy little cake shop in Saffron Walden, but after wading through crazy rain to find out it had to close due to an electrical fault, we took shelter in the nearest Costa Coffee and caught up on all of their plans and ideas for day! It was clear that they were both so sooo excited and both equally involved in the planning process, flowers and colour was a huge thing for them, they both loved their music and knew that they wanted a live band to kick off the party, and we bonded over travel stories! (Though they totally beat my ass with quite how many amazing places they’ve investigated together over the years!)
Rachel and Dan are BEAUTIFUL, fun and so very expressionate, their reactions and emotions expressed through out the day shone from their faces and it certainly kept myself and assistant, Chris, on our toes bouncing around capturing all of the shenanigans! Rachel’s dress was show stopping! It definitely had style, class and so much personality, In fact her whole wedding day look couldn’t show her individual and impeccable style any better! (and that’s before I mention her ammmmazing perfume, that I had to make a little sneaky purchase of for myself! I’m such a fuss pot when it comes to scents and I haven’t smelt anything quite so yummy in a very long time! Damn this woman has good style!!)
After returning from their church ceremony in Fordham, Rachel, Dan and their guests enjoyed a nice relaxed drinks reception out in the sunshine on the lawns at Chippenham, a beautiful champagne tower and plenty of nice ice cold drinks and lawn games kept guests amused whilst they caught up, mingled, and whilst Chris and I captured some family photos that the couple had requested.
We’d planned to wait for that yummy afternoon light for their bride and groom shots, so we all headed to the marquee down near the lake (which was more like some spectacular installation at Chelsea Flower Show! :O!) for speeches and dinner! Guests started to unwind and could pop out and enjoy the lawn and lake mid meal for a breather of fresh air. Just before the evening entertainment commenced, we grabbed a few moments to have a wander back up towards the house to capture the couple together, theres just soooo many beautiful nooks and crannies at Chippenham and I think we made a pretty good effort to do a swift whistle stop tour, ticking off quite a few of them!
I must admit I just didn’t want to pull myself away on the night of their wedding, the dance floor was busy, there were plenty of guests outside chatting and having fun… and Rachel and Dan were even game on for some night time portraits (yipeeee!) so Chis and I had the luxury of getting a little bit moreeee creative with some flash guns, which the guests seem to find funny watching on and asking what on earth we were doing! 😉 haha!
Thank you SO much for having me along to to capture your craving day guys! Here’s quite a few of my favourites from your day!
