My goodness where has the Spring gone?! It’s whizzed past in the blink of an eye as I’ve been travelling up and down the UK, here there and everywhere to meet and capture some of the most fantastic people and moments! This year has been a whirlwind of fun and I feel like my photography and eye/style has developed rapidly with so many interesting and varied sights to capture!
Katy and Nick’s wedding has been a highlighted date in my calendar for quite some time, having first met and photographed them back in July 2015 at Sarah & Lloyd’s incredible at home wedding in the Cheshire countryside! The whole circle of friends work in the theatre and my goooooodness do they know how to throw a jolly good knees up! Not to mention that the location, decor and lighting choices couldn’t be more of a photographers dream!
I met up with Katy & Nick to chat though their plans in a cosy North London pub around 18 months ago, they had their plans well and truly underway! The day was to be held up in Northumberland, at the incredddddible Newton Hall, right on the coast, it’s where Nick’s parents live and it provided the perfect and very unique backdrop for the day, as well as offering their friends and family a bit of a get away for the long weekend 🙂
Loving a good adventure and a road trip, I couldn’t wait to hop in the car and discover this corner of the country, tucked right up just below the Scottish border! The couple had planned for a relaxed day with their nearest and dearest and that love, fondness and excitement came through strongly in their day from the moment i set foot in the room with Katy, her mum and her bridesmaids that morning. They had chosen to also have a ribbon tying/handfasting ceremony conducted by a family member after their legal marriage had concluded, which was a great extra addition and touch to the civil ceremony, followed up by an exit to confetti and lovely big goblet of champagne to toast and celebrate!
It was the afternoon and evening where Katy and Nick really put on the show and brought their theatrical eye and tastes to the day- I’ll leave you to have a good glance through their beautifully decorated wedding breakfast room and just how magical their nighttime dance floor looked, featuring great, lively entertainment from Captain Atlantic and MORE confetti!
Katy and Nick couldn’t have been more game for their photography on the day, from day one of being in touch with them they were keen to have a photographer with a fresh eye on the venue, with a relaxed and fun approach and they were clear on wanting a piece of art for their wall… a portrait that they were in, but that included lots of the beautiful surrounding and setting! Boom- we headed down to the beach, a short 5 minute drive after dinner, they had a good breather and some time alone as husband and wife! We had a little wander and were treated to some yummy, golden evening light too! Hands up to Katy for wading through the sand in that incredible dress, but luckily the air was fairly still and we didn’t have a wind/kite surfing bride to rescue! 🙂
The weekend getaway for Katy and Nick’s big day was nothing short of amazing, inspiring, and eye opening. To have the opportunity to capture a couple like them, having them being SO game for cool and quirky shots and all in such a beautiful location means so much to me!
The couple’s USB is out in the post and being delivered to them today, and although they’ve had a couple of weeks to enjoy their full collection on their online gallery, I can’t wait for them to receive their Hi Resolution versions and to get printing and sharing them around! Guys, this blog post is for you! Thank you so much for having Chris and I along to capture all of your crazy antics! Lizzie x
